Dr. Alaa Alhamwi ran for Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in electoral district 27 and entered the Bundestag in 2025 via the state party list. He is the state chair of the Greens in Lower Saxony and is active in local politics in Oldenburg. His key focus areas are energy, Europe, and the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa). Professionally, he works as a researcher in the field of energy at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oldenburg. Alaa is committed to protecting nature and fighting climate change by advancing the energy transition in Germany—especially in the hydrogen sector—and ensuring that rural regions benefit from it. In addition, he is passionate about standing up against racism and discrimination, and about fighting for an open, democratic, and free society. Alaa also wants to ensure that politics and private or family life become more compatible.

Armand has been a member of the Bundestag since 2021 and was supported by Brand New Bundestag both before and during his term. He served as the deputy spokesperson for financial policy for the SPD parliamentary group and was a full member of the Committee on Digital Affairs, the Finance Committee, and the Parliamentary Advisory Council on Sustainable Development. His political focus areas include economic policy, digital policy, and equal opportunities. He brings extensive experience as a business consultant to these topics. Outside of politics, he enjoys baking and playing sports. Born in Yaoundé, Cameroon, he moved to Germany at the age of 12. The local perspective is very important to him, and he is committed to a modern, livable, and affordable Frankfurt. We already supported Kassem succesfully in 2021.

Awet Tesfaiesus ran as a direct candidate for Alliance 90/The Greens in the Werra-Meißner and Hersfeld-Rotenburg (169) constituency and has been a member of the Bundestag since 2021. She is the first Black woman elected to the Bundestag and serves as the Greens’ representative on the Committee for Culture and Media, and is also a member of the Subcommittee on European Law and the Legal Affairs Committee. As a lawyer specializing in migration and social law, Awet advocates for anti-discrimination, human rights, and an open society—shaped by her own experiences and the perspectives of marginalized communities. She places special emphasis on intersectional diversity, the inclusion of marginalized groups in political decision-making, and strengthening our liberal democracy. Her key issues include a multi-perspective culture of remembrance, equal opportunities, and effective anti-discrimination protections.

Clara Bünger is a lawyer and founder of the NGO Equal Rights Beyond Borders. In the 2025 federal election, she ran for The Left in Saxony in constituency 159 Dresden II and was able to retain her seat. Clara’s political focus areas include human rights, constitutional and criminal law, as well as asylum and migration policy. Within her party, she is the spokesperson for legal and refugee policy. Since December 2022, she has been a member of the German Bundestag and has pledged to cap her salary if she is elected to a second term. In her constituency, she already offers social counseling services on topics like housing, social law, and residency rights.

 

Derya Türk-Nachbaur once again ran as the direct candidate for the SPD in the Schwarzwald-Baar district. Since 2021, she has represented the region in the Bundestag as the first SPD member in 20 years and works passionately on behalf of the local population. As the SPD parliamentary group’s spokesperson in the Enquete Commission "Lessons from Afghanistan" and deputy spokesperson on human rights policy, Derya is shaping a feminist foreign policy for the future. Her focus areas include human rights, international cooperation, and social justice. A trained insurance professional, she previously worked in child and youth services. Derya is especially dedicated to giving a voice to people who are often unheard—such as the Êzîdî community, courageous Iranians, Uyghurs, and other threatened minorities.

Desiree Becker was the direct candidate for The Left in Hesse for the Gießen constituency and entered the Bundestag via the state list. As state chairwoman of The Left in Hesse, county chairwoman and deputy faction chair in the Gießen district council, a member of the party council, and a delegate at both federal and state party conferences, she demonstrates impressive political commitment. Her political priorities include labor policy, migration policy, and youth policy. As a union secretary for ver.di focusing on youth in Central Hesse and youth education advisor for ver.di Youth Hesse, Desiree is passionately committed to the rights of young people and fair working conditions. She is also active in numerous alliances around Gießen and brings her expertise into local politics—an engagement supported by her municipal mandate.

Donata has been a member of the Bundestag since 2025. In the 2025 federal election, she ran in Thuringia in constituency 188 Eichsfeld – Nordhausen – Kyffhäuserkreis for The Left. The political scientist was already a member of the state parliament and served as the spokesperson for disaster protection and fire services in the Thuringian state parliament. She is also the spokesperson for the state working group “Left Women's Network” of The Left party in Thuringia and deputy chair of the Thuringian State Women's Council. Now, Donata wants to represent the voters of her constituency at the federal level. Her main concerns include disaster protection, nuclear waste disposal, gender equality, and digitalization.

Filiz Polat ran for Bündnis90/die Grünen in the Osnabrück-Land constituency (38). She has been a member of the Bundestag since 2017 and works passionately on the issues closest to her heart. As Parliamentary Secretary, she plays a key role in organizing day-to-day parliamentary business. Additionally, she serves as the spokesperson and full member of the Committee on the Scrutiny of Elections, Immunity, and Rules of Procedure. She is also a member of the Council of Elders and a deputy member of the Committee on Internal Affairs and Community.
Filiz is passionately committed to refugee and migration policy and emphasizes the crucial role municipalities play in social cohesion. Her other political focus areas include European policy, elder care, and the protection of cultural heritage.

Hakan Demir has been a member of the Bundestag since 2025, representing the Berlin-Neukölln constituency. He is a political scientist and SPD parliamentarian. As a member of the executive board of the SPD parliamentary group and co-chair of the SPD Rixdorf chapter, he passionately advocates for the promotion of democracy, anti-racism, and the fight against right-wing extremism. Through his role in the leadership circle of the Parliamentary Left and as deputy spokesperson of the SPD’s working group on migration and integration, Hakan works for an inclusive society marked by diversity and solidarity.

Jakob Blankenburg once again won the direct mandate for the Lüchow-Dannenberg – Lüneburg (37) constituency for the SPD in Lower Saxony. He has been highly active in his home region for years—as chair of the SPD in the Lüneburg district and as a member of the state executive of SPD Lower Saxony. In the Bundestag, Jakob is the youngest directly elected SPD member and brings a breath of fresh air to politics. As spokesperson and representative of the SPD parliamentary group in the 2nd Committee of Inquiry, and as a member of the Parliamentary Advisory Council on Sustainable Development, he advances topics such as the energy transition, nuclear phase-out, sustainable transformation, and environmental and energy policy. Jakob became politically active while still in school when he founded a citizens' initiative against fracking—a commitment that still shapes his political work today.

Jan ran in the Krefeld II – Wesel II (113) constituency for the SPD. He has been a member of the Bundestag since 2021 and serves as a full member of the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs, as well as the Committee on the Scrutiny of Elections, Immunity, and Rules of Procedure. Jan is also a member of the city council in his hometown of Moers.
In his political work, Jan is particularly committed to strengthening co-determination rights for workers and ensuring socially just climate protection. He follows a holistic approach: rather than merely addressing symptoms, he aims to break up entrenched structures and tangibly improve people’s lives.

Kassem Taher Saleh entered the Bundestag in 2025 via the state party list in Saxony (position 2) and as the candidate for constituency Dresden I (158). As a civil engineer, a sustainable and fair construction and housing policy is one of his core focus areas. He actively contributes his expertise as a member and spokesperson in the Committee on Housing, Urban Development, Building and Local Government. Growing up in Plauen, Saxony, taught him the importance of standing up for others—which is why he advocates for strengthening civil society structures in Eastern Germany. Kassem is involved with the Saxon Refugee Council and is a member of SG Dynamo Dresden. In the Bundestag, he aims to be a voice for a diverse, open-minded, and sustainable Dresden and Saxony. We already supported Kassem succesfully in 2021.

Lea Reisner ran as a direct candidate for The Left in the Cologne II constituency and entered the Bundestag via the state list. As a trained nurse, she is deeply committed to issues of healthcare and nursing—areas she already champions as the party’s spokesperson on nursing policy. She is particularly passionate about abolishing the two-tier healthcare system and banning profit in the care sector. In addition to her political work on the state executive committee of The Left in NRW, Lea also brings remarkable voluntary experience: as a former mission leader and project coordinator for organizations like Sea-Watch and a founding member of the Kabul Airlift, she actively advocates for refugee and migration issues. She campaigns for tackling the root causes of displacement, creating safe escape routes, promoting global freedom of movement, and equal rights for all people.

Lisa Badum ran again for Bündnis 90/die Grünen in the Bamberg constituency (235) and re-entered the Bundestag via the state list. Having grown up in a region with the highest brewery density in the world, it seems only natural that Lisa is the founder and chair of the Parliamentary Group on Brewing Culture in the German Bundestag. She serves as the spokesperson in the Committee on Climate Action and Energy, and chairs the Subcommittee on Climate Foreign Policy.
Her path into politics began with student government, inspired by issues like gender equality and women's rights around the world. She also spent a semester abroad in Greece—a country she is a big fan of.

Misbah Khan ran as a direct candidate for Bündnis 90/die Grünen in the Neustadt/Speyer constituency and was re-elected to the Bundestag via the state list. She is already a member of the Bundestag and serves on the Committee on Internal Affairs and Community as well as the Committee on Digital Affairs. As a political scientist, she played a major role in the reform of immigration law and is particularly committed to the immigration society, the fight against right-wing extremism and terrorism, and the modernization and digitization of public administration. She also supports initiating a party ban procedure against the AfD and stands for a progressive domestic policy that includes all parts of society.

Nyke Slawik ran in the Leverkusen – Cologne IV constituency for Bündnis 90/ die Grünen and wants to continue advocating for diversity and justice in the Bundestag in the upcoming legislative period.
Nyke is not only the deputy chair of the Transport Committee and a member of the Family Affairs Committee, but also a board member of the German-Polish Parliamentary Group. As one of the first openly trans members of the Bundestag, she passionately fights for self-determination and against discrimination. In the Bundestag, she led negotiations on the Germany-wide transit ticket and the national student ticket. She was also involved in negotiating the new Self-Determination Act.
Her key issues include mobility policy, climate protection and climate justice, as well as queer rights and the right to self-determination.

 

Rasha Nasr has been a member of the Bundestag since 2021 and was supported by Brand New Bundestag both before and during her term. In parliament, she serves as a full member of the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs and as a deputy member in the Committees on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, Internal Affairs and Community, as well as the Parliamentary Advisory Council on Sustainable Development. Locally, the political scientist is also active as co-chair of the SPD in Dresden. As the first SPD Bundestag member in Saxony with a migration background, Rasha resolutely fights against structural racism and for the visibility of marginalized groups. Her core issues: social justice, decent work, and humane asylum and migration policy. We already supported Rasha succesfully in 2021.

Reem Alabali-Radovan ran for the SPD in the constituency Schwerin – Ludwigslust-Parchim I – Northwest Mecklenburg I and also led the state list for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, through which she was elected to the Bundestag. She serves as Minister of State for Migration, Refugees, and Integration, as well as the Federal Government’s Commissioner for Anti-Racism. At the state level, she also demonstrates her commitment as deputy state chair of the SPD in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Reem’s core topics: anti-racism, equal opportunities, and social security. Her heart beats for a strong Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, where respect, unity, and justice set the tone. Reem advocates for the people in her constituency—always close to them and with an open ear for local concerns.

Christian Schroeder is running for the CDU in the Brandenburg state election. A second-generation resident of Bad Saarow, he is passionate about local and regional issues. He is particularly committed to humane digitalization, a modern state, and strengthening rural areas. As chair of the CDU Bad Saarow-Scharmützelsee and treasurer of the CDU Oder-Spree, he works to support the vibrant local culture.

Anne-Marie Luise König was successfully elected in June 2024 to the city council of Bitterfeld-Wolfen and the local council of Wolfen for Alliance 90/The Greens!
Her goals include promoting family-friendliness, expanding public transportation and bike infrastructure, strengthening democracy, making the region climate-resilient, and advancing digitalization.
Anne-Marie has been living in Bitterfeld-Wolfen with her family since 2020 and works as a recruiter for a mobility company. She is also a dedicated volunteer with the Connect People e.V. association.

 

Andreas was elected in June 2024 to the municipal council of Wandlitz and the local council of Stolzenhagen. There, he wants to promote a fresh start in local politics. He became involved during the pandemic, when populist ideologies were increasingly gaining ground.
His main focus areas are economic policy and decentralized, community-based value creation chains.
Andreas has lived in Stolzenhagen with his family since 2020 and works as a freelancer shaping the digital presence of companies and organizations.
